BEYOND INTEGRA: OPPORTUNITIES FOR FUTURE COOPERATION ON INTEGRATION ISSUES IN BULGARIA
The annual Age, Gender and Diversity Participatory Assessment Final Workshop, organized by UNHCR Representation in Bulgaria, took place 5-6 November 2019 in Panagyurishte. The workshop gathered representatives of public institutions and NGOs working on refugee integration in Bulgaria. During the two-day event, participants heard from Mr Mathijs le Rutte, UNHCR Representative in Bulgaria about the UNHCR Strategic Priorities in the Area of Protection and Solutions for 2020. Ms Emiliya Bratanova van Harten and Ms Iva Partsaleva, UNHCR, presented the key findings of the 2019 Age, Gender and Diversity Participatory Assessment. Workshop discussions focused on identifying critical issues and recommendations for improvement through new interventions in key policy areas on refugee integration. S. Gabova from SDA took part in the workshop and presented the lessons learned and good practices from INTEGRA. The project focus on cities as agents of integration at local level is especially important for exploring new models of involving refugees and migrants in the decision-making process and development of city integration strategies.
